We returned to the den in a round about manner, avoiding traps along the way. Based on the trail he took I was surprised I had not stumbled onto one on that night almost half a moon ago. Now we sat in the house, he poking at the fire lazily seeming pleased every time it would crackle, and me sitting in my bed hungrily watching him. He had been watching me trying to find a way back to him and I couldn’t figure out why. He didn’t seem keen to talk about the events of the morning, not that that was surprise he wasn’t ever very talkative unless I dragged it out of him. Seems this would be no different.
I opened my mouth to spea
I don’t know why I am here, or what is happening. All I knew is, it was cold, it was snowing, and my Mom was running. She was running, carrying me in roughly in her maw and that’s how I woke up, squeaking in protest of the rough treatment. She ran from the terror that was behind us, howls of war and murder. Suddenly she tripped, I was thrown into the air, she stood, ran to scoop me up but her legs failed her and she collapsed around me. Nuzzling me comfortingly she whispered, “Run, hide my darling, run!” I didn’t know what to do; I was scared of whatever it was she was running from, of the howls that were chasing
With the sounds of the fighting dog’s and angry yelling haunting my dreams, I was afraid to wake up. When I finally did, wake up I did not open my eyes, afraid I was mutilated or had been a plaything to Spector, but I did not hear anything. I felt the ground below me; I was elevated on a stone table, a very narrow stone table. I kicked my legs then moved my arms; glad I had not, yet, been dismembered, and opened my eyes, I still could not see. I was alone and I could not see. Panic started to stir in my chest. Had I gone blind from looking at the explosion? Did my exertion take that much of a tool on my body? I started to fumble around
“And I thought it was difficult getting you to be trained.” I said to Ryan some time later. We’d gone to see the Alpha about starting missions of some form or another. It had required a lot more persuasion than I had anticipated and a great deal more sacrifices than I really wanted to give up. “He did agree that you could help me with missions in the end though.”
“I hear a “But” coming up…” Ryan sighed. “What were the conditions?”
“The conditions are we’d have to do some hunting-gathering missions.” Ryan protested. “Hey, I know, I know.&rdquo
I awoke next to Laura the next morning with many bright little pups looking at me. They startled me for a moment but then I remembered I had spent the night in the nursery. The pups scattered as I sat up and disappeared behind a mom, or a nurse maid.
“We normally don’t allow males to stay here.” Said one of the nurse maids.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” I said apologetically.
“Oh no, don’t worry about it,” said another. “We heard about your ordeal.”
“Losing your trainer, master, and friends.” One said sorrowfully. “It must be awful.” I nodded
When we reached the medicinal area I set to look for Ryan. My nose couldn’t smell anything but the smell of burnt flesh from cauterized wounds, and the bitter smell of the incense they tried to cover it up with. A passing Wigglytuff asked us where we were headed. “To the see the Houndoom,” The lady gasped and looked around, asking how we knew about him. “We came here with him; he’s my charge under the Alpha’s orders.” I told her. She looked at Justice, who confirmed what I said. With a disapproving huff she took us past the front of the medical area and into a tucked away room. Ryan was laying on the
We’d walked for half a day before finally coming to a place to where Justice would stop. We wanted to put as much distance between us and the mansion as we could, but walking at night, with Ryan on my back, and Laura’s condition (which was not her pregnancy rather she wasn’t used to being in the wilds after dark). Every little thing spooked Laura, which made me paranoid, which made it easier to become agitated at each other. Finally, we decided it was time to rest for the night as we could no longer stand each other. To make matters worse, Ryan had yet to so much as twitch an eye. He wasn’t the light pup I could carry
Ryan used all his might to drive the Dusclops from his mind. The Dusclops hadn’t allowed any healing to be done by Ryan’s body so many wounds suddenly opened on his flesh after the effects of the possession had worn off. I rushed his broken body to the others, immediately Chico and Burnout took Ryan to a sealed room and started him on some special treatments. Burnout left to retrieve Bill and I went into the room. Chico saw me enter but said nothing, she was too focused on whatever she was doing to him, Bill and Burnout discovered me in the room, but both said nothing. I looked between them hoping Ryan would be okay. “Burnou
It was a few weeks before my leg returned to being fully useful. The taxation of fighting for Laura and fighting the dragon had exhausted me more than I thought. The fight with the dragon revealed that I had ribs and wounds that had reopened that needed tending too. Bill would only look at me and shake his head humored and say something like, “You’re either very lucky or very strong to have gone this long without treatment,” referring to my cracked ribs. I refused to spend my time idly though, every moment I was awake and felt good I was training or spending time with Laura. Soon though she started growing distant, I could o
